Adult Education Opportunity

What would help you spend more time reading and praying (with)
Scriptures? How might you participate more fully, consciously, &
actively in Sunday Mass? From a faith perspective, what value does an
experience of illness have…?

If you are searching for a way to deepen your own relationship
with God, discussions (using the new Catholic Catechism for
Adults) on  Creed, Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer
could support that desire.

If you are worried that these discussions might call you to
challenge something in your life,
then these forums just might be for you.

Classes begin Tuesday evening, February 12 at 7:15
in the Adult Faith Formation Office in the rectory basement.
Please call 610-932-9398 to register.

If this class would be better for you during the daytime,
please let us know.  We may add this to the schedule.
May 11th dedication of the Lady of Life statue was a great success. Please read story below.

All who attend Sacred Heart parish, or pass by the Church on busy
Route 10, may note a major construction effort taking place in a
shady spot beside Sacred Heart Church. This activity is the
culmination of four years of work by the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
Knights of Columbus, Council 13241, to create a powerful statement
as to the sacredness of life for all to see.

It started at a Knight's meeting four years ago. At that time the
Council was a mere two years old and under the leadership of Grand
Knight, SK Michael Sinsheimer. Under discussion was the assault on
life through the aborting of unborn children and how as Catholic
Gentlemen of the Order we could defend the right of the unborn to
live. A gifted artist and Council member, SK Matt Cummiskey,
offered to sculpt a statue of a young woman, proudly carrying a
child, joyful in her pregnancy. Focusing on the sanctity of life the
statue would be installed on Church grounds readily visible to our
parish members and from Route 10. The idea, although a bit
daunting for such a young council, was quickly supported by GK
Sinsheimer and the Knights in attendance, and that night we started
on our goal to create, plan, fund, and bring to fruition this proud
symbol of our respect for life and what our Church stands for when
life is in question.

May 11th was the culmination of this effort as the life sized bronze
statue of "Our Lady of Life" was dedicated in front of over 100
parish members and friends. Our current Grand Knight, SK Patrick
Cahill, who provided the project with tireless and effective leadership
introduced the program led by Father Brennan's thoughtful opening
prayer.  Project coordinator, SK Mike Williams, Chancellor
, SK Bill
Kelly, SK and sculptor Matt Cummiskey,
and SK Keith Haight all
members of the Council "Our Lady of Life" team spoke of their
pride in bringing the shrine to completion. District Deputy, SK Mike
Sinsheimer reminded everyone of the Knights commitment to the
sanctity of life as represented by the "Lady". Brother Knight Dick
Daley completed the program with prayers of thanks. Previous
Grand Knights: SK Kevin Quigley, SK Michael Sinsheimer, and SK
Kevin Bloh were recognized for providing their leadership and
significant efforts to bring the project to life.

Funding was a joint effort of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Council
activities, and parish members and friends of life, who bought
memorial bricks to grace the shrine area.

Thanks go to the many Knights and other supporters of life who
helped along the way. Without their hard work and dedication to the
basic principles of Catholic doctrine this concept would be but a
dream.
The dream is now a reality.........and we continue our
fight for
"Life, Born and Unborn".
